The Process

Our Simple 3 Step Process

Free on-site quote and design

We start with a free visit to your home to measure the space, check how the structure will attach and talk through how you want to use the area. You get an itemised quote and a design that suits your block, your budget and Penrith's heat, whether that points to an insulated roof, a louvre system or an open pergola. We also advise on the likely approval pathway, whether your structure may be exempt, need a CDC or need a full DA. The certifier or council makes the final call, but we guide you through it and arrange the paperwork and any engineering.

Build: footings, frame and roof

Once the design and any approval are sorted, our own team gets to work. We set out and pour or install the footings, stand the posts and fix the beams and rafters, attaching to the house fascia or wall correctly where the structure is attached. The frame is built to the relevant wind rating for the region and to manufacturer span tables or an engineer's details where required. Then we install your chosen roof, from single-skin Colorbond to an insulated panel or an opening roof system.

Finish and clean-up

With the structure up, we complete the finishing details, add any cafe blinds or Zipscreen enclosures you have chosen, and check every fixing. We tidy the site fully and remove our offcuts and rubbish so you are left with a usable space, not a mess to clear. We walk you through the finished build and how to look after it, including the honest maintenance timber needs over the years. Then your backyard is ready to use through the next Western Sydney summer.

Will an insulated patio roof actually keep my backyard cooler in summer?

Do you handle the council approval side?

Yes, we advise on the approval pathway and can arrange it for you. Depending on the size, height, setbacks and your location, your patio or pergola may be exempt from approval, need a Complying Development Certificate, or need a full Development Application. Most of our area is under Penrith City Council, while Blaxland and Warrimoo sit in Blue Mountains City Council, where bushfire-prone land can change what is allowed. We coordinate the approval and any required engineering, but the certifier or council makes the final decision, so we cannot guarantee an outcome.

Can you build a new alfresco in an estate home or add a patio to an older place?

We do both. In growth estates like Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing we build and upgrade alfresco and patio areas on newer, often smaller fenced blocks, working in with the existing home. On established homes in Penrith, St Marys and Emu Plains we retrofit pergolas and patios onto the house or over an existing slab. On the larger acreage blocks around Llandilo, Mulgoa and Castlereagh we build big freestanding patios, verandahs and carports. We design attached or freestanding to suit your block and how the structure needs to sit.
